Crankdat Honolulu Concert reviews
One of the worst concerts I have ever been to
Electric is one of my all-time favorite albums. What a disappointment!!! I literally bought tickets the minute they went on sale and have looked forward to this show for months. The opening band, White Hills, was horrible and went on for too long. Ian misses the first vocal cue (seriously how the hell do you miss the first song) and then he sounds like crap. The rest of the band sounded good (Duffy was great!!!) but Ian basically ruined the whole evening. It was the worst vocal performance I have seen since the David Lee Roth debacle with Van Halen a couple years ago. We started getting nervous. Were they stalling while Crankdat was getting their act together backstage? Who knows. Then there was an hour long wait for no obvious reason; the stage was ready in 10 minutes. So Crankdat finally comes out and starts rocking. Seriously, how hard is it to nail the opening lyrics of Wild Flower and Lil Devil?!? Who knows what he was doing but we can all speculate based upon his performance. After listening to Ian ruin Memphis Hip Shake, Rain, and then Sweet Soul Sister, we were done with Crankdat. Since he couldn't hit any high notes, Ian decided to just make a barking noise during songs. He was completely out of it all night long. He couldn't hit the high notes and kept missing stuff coming out of breaks. At the end of every song, he would go chug a Red Bull by the drum kit and fiddle around back there. It is a shame too because Billy Duffy was killing it and Tempesta was drumming like a champ. The band was trying to carry a washed up vocalist through the night but it was not enough.
